1/2/2010
Oddly 2009 was one of the busiest years for HH in terms of working on various projects of all stripes, though our live show profile has been relatively low. Here's the specs:
Since October of '08 myself and new HH member Lucas Rambo have been hard at work writing and recording tons of new music and improving our abilities as improvisers as well, doing all this holed up in a weird basement in the Carroll County, Md. town of Westminster
Lucas is the main mind behind American Folklore, a band which I am now sometimes playing the keyboard bass in.
The Human Host Movie - this has been in the works since '07 but we only have been working on this regularly since March 2009, and (knock on wood) it looks like we're ahead of schedule with this project, not way ahead, but enough that I can say with a decent amount of certainty that we will probably be into post production by or before the end of THIS year, which could mean that THHM's release date could be bumped up to 2011 :-)
Some of the incredibly talented folks pitching in to help us with this include N.O. Smith, Ann Everton, Chris James, Scott Russell, and Kate Ewald.
One final 2009 note: In December 2009 HH released 'Amber Majesty' - an unusual release, even by our standards. It is out on Large Father Ltd.(see the previous blog here for more info on our good old friends who run this new label) in two distinct formats and in each format there is a different version of the record.
1st there is the cassette version which is a full length release which will be available for sale at most of the shows where LFL bands like Harco and Herman Mellville Experience play, and soon it will also be available at American Folklore shows and once HH starts playing live again (by March at the earliest) you can get it at our shows too.
You may also mail order an Amber Majesty cassette l.p. direct from Large Father Ltd.
There is also a separate FREE digital donwload E.P. version of Amber Majesty - most of the songs from the album are also on the e.p. The only way to get this is to request a copy via Large Father Ltd.'s email address (or contact Jesse Garrett Armstrong of LFL on Facebook) and he will email you the tracks plus a jpeg graphic featuring a slightly different version of the tape cover/credits listing.
So what's up HH wise for 2010? Other than possibly completing production on the HH movie, the biggest thing on the horizon is the soon to be released Human Conduct published HUMAN HOST PROSE/POETRY BOOK - 32 pages of the illustration/literary side of HH, including reprints of material that only ever appeared in the first two issues of the small press HH zine 'Beast' and our 'Time Blast' educational pamphlet.
O.k., that's about it everyone, have a great safe 2010!
